Unibet teams up with Betfilter to prevent under-age people from gambling

Parent company of Unibet, Kindgred Group puts more emphasis on responsible gambling. They decided to tie with Hong Kong-based GPHP Group Ltd. – a company which specializes in anti-gambling solutions. The GPHP Group Ltd. provides the Betfilter software which was created to prevent those with gambling problems to fall for their addiction. The tool blocks access to online gambling sites, to help underage (or even adult) people being exposed to gambling-related ads. Kindred and GPHP has been collaborating for a year now to develop their new social responsibility tool called AdBlocker. In fact, the two companies announced a partnership two years ago and started offering Betfilter licences for customers who had shown the signs of addiction.

“I am happy that this new social responsibility tool is now ready and available to those who need it. We have always been very clear that our products are only to be used by adults over the age of 18, and therefore see this tool as an important addition to our responsible gambling toolbox. This project also follows our commitment to supply a joyful form of entertainment to our customers”, says Maris Bonello, Integrity Analyst Manager at Kindred Group.

The tool is available on any device

“At betfilter.com we are proud to collaborate with Kindred Group on this project. Our company has always strived to help people with gambling problems and also ensure safety for children” says Per Albertsen from Betfilter. “The new AdBlocker, which is initially available for Windows users, blocks gambling ads, thus preventing vulnerable people from being tempted. We believe this Out of Sight, Out of Mind method to be truly effective in promoting responsible gambling”.

In the past years the regulators applied ever stricter rules on gambling operators, affiliates. The Advertising Standards Authority (ASA) in the UK has also been forcing the operators to protect at-risk customers. Online gambling company 888 got a £7.8 million fine because of the lack of proper protection for self-excluded gamblers.

It’s always nice to see a gambling operator trying to protect their customers. Even though gambling is a fun way to kill some time and has been with us forever, it’s extremely important to only gamble for money we can afford to lose.
